It has been almost a month since we moved into our new home and we are loving it! Without the help of friends, though, we never would have pulled off the move - especially sans Paul. Well, he was there, but not able to do anything - which drove him crazy!
The first Saturday after we got the house two of our wonderful friends came over to help us clean out cupboards and get organized.
Lianne brought us a care package - cleaning supplies and wine for when we were finished! Honestly, I can't tell you how handy the items were - especially when we realized that we had a dishwasher, but no detergent...until we looked in the bin!
Lianne and AM cleaned out cupboards, washed away the dust from the building process and got things tidied up in the kitchen. I honestly wouldn't have had the time to do this before we moved - it was such a big help and a lot of fun to spend the afternoon with good friends. :)
Hmmmm....just realized that I don't have any pics of Lianne on this day - I guess that is because she was the only one taking pictures! :)
The evening before the big move we had quite a few friends come over and help to move the things that we wanted to move ourselves - electronics and things that were just too hard to pack properly. After school, two of my teacher friends came over and we filled up three vehicles full of stuff. Then Nancy and James came over to help as well - and we filled their van! We all headed over to the new house to unload. It was so much faster with so many people helping. Then Jenn and Mike came over as well and helped finish things up - and we were done so much earlier than I had anticipated, which was great!
The next morning, our neighbours Kevin and Mike hung around most of the day to help with anything that we needed, which was a huge help! The day was a long one, but the guys helped to keep Paul distracted (and out of my hair) for most of the day.
April was also there that day - which turned out to be a very good thing! On the way to the apartment I realized that I had forgotten my keys at the house and I panicked! Luckily, April was at the house and was able to drive them over to us, just in time for the movers to start. She also got things organized for us at the house - made the beds, unpacked things in the kitched, and even prepared food. She is amazing...warm food at the end of the day is exactly what we needed.
I can honestly say that we have some of the most wonderful friends! When Paul hurt himself, I panicked that I wouldn't be able to get this move done on my own. I shouldn't have panicked - our friends were there for us every step of the way and we are so grateful for the gift of their time.
And the move is finished...exhausted, but happy...
