17 & 2 Months

This week has been one where Maelyn has truly been at the forefront of our thoughts (even more than usual!).

This past Tuesday was the anniversary of our referral - two months since we received our referral for our beautiful little girl. In some ways, the two months have flown by - what with moving, Paul's injury, preparing for Maelyn's arrival, and a multitude of other things going on, time seems to be moving at warp speed. Have to admit, we are very grateful for time moving so quickly - the slow wait for her referral was awful and I had hoped that the time between receiving her picture and travelling wouldn't feel like that! So far, so good! On the other hand, however, I can't believe that we have known about her for only two months! It feels as though she has existed in our hearts forever! I have read blogs where people write that they can't remember what life was like before their little ones came into their lives - I get that now!

Today is another milestone in Maelyn's life. Today she is 17 months old. I feel joy in the fact that she is healthy, growing and getting older, but I also feel sadness that we are not there with her to mark this milestone. The 5th of every month is a day that we spend thinking about Maelyn and talking about our hopes and dreams for her - we truly cannot wait to hold her in our arms and share those dreams with her...

We love you, Maelyn!

Awww, *hugs* Jan! I can certainly understand how hard it is to not have her in your arms yet. So unfortunate that it takes so long for kids to be placed, and you have to miss a whole chunk of her life. I know you'll make up for it though, in the long run.

How is Paul doing? Such a long time to be laid up!

We need to get together soon!!

I love the "time" updates...such wonderful messages to keep for Maelyn later when she is older.

Waiting is the hardest thing...I'm so glad that the time is going quickly for you!
