Timelines & Updates

Just before Christmas, Paul and I received a phone call from our adoption agency. Our program coordinator reviewed with us a medical plan for Maelyn, once she arrives in Canada. In short, we have a few doctor appointments to make! :)

The best part of the call was being able to ask our coordinator a few questions. We found out that we are going to be able to send Maelyn a care package. This isn't always possible, but because she is a part of the Special Needs program, we are allowed. We have decided to send the care package near the end of February, as we want to be able to include an updated photo album. We will included family photos, photos of the cats, and even photos of the new house and of her room. This will allow me time to get her room done - can't wait!

We also found out that we are allowed to ask the CCAA for one update - which would include general health information and photos! We are going to make this request at the beginning of April - this way the photos and information we have will be more up-to-date for when we travel.

Near the end of April we should receive confirmation of our travel dates - so exciting!!

Hi Jan,

Have been reading your blog and enjoying your reflections.

Karen and I have come to know an amazing charity based in Vancouver that works with special needs children in China. We visited their work in Hengyang and Changsha ... cities sort of near where Maelyn is from. Karen has been so impressed, she later joined the board.

Here's their website so you can find out more info on them:
