Yesterday we received one of the calls we have been waiting for - we have been officially logged in to China!
The process for a special needs adoption differs than that from the regular program. In the special needs program, you must first be presented with your child's referral, then accept that referral. The referral needs to be reviewed by a doctor, due to the specific medical needs of each child in the program.
Paul and I, of course, accepted Ling Wanhao's referral with open arms! We then sent our entire dossier, which included a TON of paperwork, to China. This package included our homestudy, photos of our family, friends and home, financial information, reference letters, etc. All of this was recently reviewed in China.
The call we received yesterday was to inform us that all of our paperwork was reviewed and approved! Another step taken towards meeting our daughter.
Now that China has approved us as parents and we are in all ways matched with Maelyn, we can start to prepare to send her a care package. We will send this to China shortly, in the hopes that we can reach out to her as soon as possible.
Another step closer......
