New Cast - Again!

Many of you have very kindly been emailing or calling to find out about how Paul is doing - so I am posting an update!

On December 17th, Paul got another fiberglass cast. This time we reversed the colours - red base, green stripes! It wasn't the best of visits, though. The technician had to manipulate Paul's foot to try and get it into a 90 degree angle - painful! It was even painful to watch! It didn't quite get there on the 17th, but we didn't expect that it would happen so early. The doctor confirmed that the earliest Paul would be able to start putting weight on his foot (with the aid of crutches), would be the middle of February - sigh......

He had another appointment this past Thursday and finally made it out of the fiberglass casts and into an air cast. His foot is almost at a perfect 90 degree angle - just a little support under his heel right now. We thought the air cast would be great, as he can now shower without a cast. But it isn't the greatest - more of a pain, than anything.

Paul ended up tightening the cast too much the other day and caused a lot of swelling in his leg. It is also more time consuming to take on and off - not the greatest. It will, however, be a wonderful cast when he can finally start walking. :)

Overall, he is a great patient - doesn't complain too often. Can't WAIT until he is back to being 100%!
