It was house day today - woohoo! We received the keys to our new home this afternoon. I headed over to the building site right after school and went through a couple of items with the builder and then...voila! We were homeowners again!
Positives -
-we have a little more space to move around
-we can finally get settled
-we can start fixing up Maelyn's room
-the list goes on and on!!
Negatives -
-we have to start paying a mortgage again!!!!
When I get the keys from one of the building supervisors this afternoon, we were chatting about our plans for moving. I told him that we are not actually moving our belongings until the following weekend, as we have a few projects that we want to get done around the house. He asked how I was going to get everything done - he was aware of Paul's leg. I mentioned that I have been relying on my Dad a lot lately, but that he has been sick over the past week and that it has made things even crazier for us! I mentioned that it should be okay and that I was going to get the basement floor sealed/painted that evening. We chatted a bit longer, then I headed back to the apartment to pick up Paul.
When I got there, Paul said that the Mattamy supervisor had called and told him not to worry, they would paint the basement floor for us tomorrow. We couldn't believe it! It was very, very generous of them - and I couldn't thank them enough! It was a HUGE relief tonight to not have to spend three to four hours painting. Instead, I was actually able to enjoy the first evening of owning our new home. Thanks, Mattamy! :)
I went to the new house to take pictures. I got out of the car, got ready to take wonderful shots to add to the blog - only to realize that the battery I had so cleverly charged ahead of time was still at home, on the kitchen counter. Ahhhhhh!!! No pics of our first day, the lovely bow on the door - boo! I will have to make up for it this weekend! :)
It is so nice to be home. :)

Mattamy just earned big brownie points in my book! So glad you didn't have to do that!!!!
Wooot! Congratulations!
Wait... Mattamy offered to do something? Like... voluntarily, without threats? And... within a very decent timeframe? Colour me gobsmacked. ;)
