Ladybugs & Butterflies

I have waited three years to decorate our little one's room - and now I can finally plan and shop! After some searching and contemplating possible themes, I have finally decided that Maelyn's room theme will be ladybugs and butterflies. Have to admit - I got the ladybug decorating ideas from AM - Julia's bathroom is the best!

Anyways, I searched for bedding that would fit the chosen theme - and it wasn't easy! Most of the bedding that would have worked is only available in the US. I also had trouble finding something that wasn't PINK!! In the end, I found the perfect set - it is being ordered for us by a store in Oakville. We ordered the bedding, the rug, the nightlight, the butterflies that will hang from the ceiling, the window valence, and the ribbed blanket. I can't wait until the set is delivered!

So - her room will be purple! I love the plum purple in this set - perfect! Her furniture will be white. Haven't figure out yet what colour I will paint the walls - perhaps a green of some shade.

I have also figured out how I am going to decorate her bathroom. I had originally decided on a bug and leaves theme, but couldn't get the entire set (discontinued - of course!). In the end, I found something that  I like and that I think will grow with Maelyn.

I will add different ladybug pieces to tie in her bedroom theme. AM - any ideas about where I can get some ladybug items for her bathroom??

Next on the list is to finish shopping for the pieces I need to put together her playroom. I won't be shopping, however, until after we move. I don't want to have to move any more than we have to! :)

Glad to have a fellow fan of the lady bug -- I must say my eye is still so drawn to them when I see them -- so don't you worry a bit, I'll be hunting them down for you.

LOVE the nursery motif -- that was one of the real moments for me before Julia came -- having the room done, furniture in, clothes hanging in the closet -- it was real and surreal for sure...

Can't wait to see it all in person.
