Maelyn Elizabeth Wanhao Green
Yesterday was one of the most amazing days of our lives. We received our referral call for our beautiful, beautiful daughter. Wow!! We have a daughter!
Our agency called Paul at home at around 10:15am. Our program coordinator told Paul that they were able to get our LOA from the Minstry and that they would be calling us between 1:00 and 1:15 that afternoon. He immediately called me at school to tell me the news.
I jumped when I heard the phone ring - then I saw that it was Paul calling, not the agency - and I was irritated with him that he was getting my hopes up by making my phone ring. Little did I know, he was calling with amazing news! My students knew right away what was going on and they started cheering! I hung up with Paul and made arrangements for a teacher to cover my class that afternoon. Then - I started calling! I was shaking - I could barely dial the numbers. I called family and a few friends to let them know that we would be getting our call within a matter of hours!!
Then, I had to teach!! I still had over an hour of class time before I could leave - I have no idea how I got through it, but I kept going. When the lunch bell rang, I raced home to 'set up' for the call.
Then, our agency called with the wonderful news! We found out that we have a little girl and we were given what information they had about Wanhao. It was an intense moment. After the phone call, we received the email with her pictures. I can't even begin to put into words what it was like to see our daughter for the very first time. It was amazing....it was surreal....it was meant to be.
Shortly after we got our call, we headed to Paul's parents house to tell them our news! They were excited - Grandparents for the first time!
Then, it was off to see my Mom and Brian. My mom has been waiting anxiously for Maelyn's referral!
After that, my Dad, sister and her husband showed up at our house. We told them the big news and shared her pictures with them.
And they broke out the pink chocolate cigars they had brought (they brought blue ones too, just in case...hehe)
We enjoyed a yummy sushi dinner, while we talked about Maelyn and our plans for her new room! :)
While we were eating, we received a flower delivery from Lianne - two red roses and one pink one!!
What a perfect day!! We are so very blessed...

I get choked up when I listen to Bryan Adams singing about your daughter and your family.
Love sharing all the moments -- but I'm not happy about waiting so long to welcome her home.....
I know it will be worth the wait -- can't wait to be at the airport for that one....
We are so very excited and can't wait for Maelyn to meet our cres. It will be so much fun to have a little one around. The wait is long but will pass quickly. Can't wait to see her room.
SO VERY happy for you my friend!! Can't wait to meet her.
