We are finally here! After many hours of travel, we are now resting in our hotel room for the afternoon.
We left Friday morning at around 9:30 and headed for Buffalo. We ran into a little traffic at the border, but managed to make it to the airport just over two hours before our flight. When we arrived at the Buffalo airport, the shuttle followed us to our parking spot and we were immediately able to board. The funniest part was when Paul was sitting in the shuttle and he realized that he hadn't locked the truck! He was leaning as far out the shuttle as possible trying to click the lock over and over in a valient attempt...but we have no idea if it worked! We laughed so hard at the fact that the truck would sit there unlocked for three weeks....and wondered if anyone would steal it so that we could get a new vehicle! Haha!!
We got through security quite quickly in Buffalo and then had lunch at the airport. We couldn't believe how expensive it was! Our first plane was not even a full-sized plane...it was a jet! I have never been on a plane that small. We ended up in the seats at the very front and we were joking around with the flight attendant that the seats were as close as we would ever come to flying first class. :) Our flight attendant was really nice and we ended up chatting with her the entire flight...
In Detroit we had to motor it to make it to our next flight on time. The plane was a much bigger one and much, much nicer. In fact, Paul and I had a blast on the plane! Instead of a movie for the entire plane, we each had our own screen and on-demand movies, television shows, music, etc. Within half an hour of the plane taking off, Paul and I had both settled in with a movie, complimentary beer and peanuts. An hour later, we were served dinner. We were in heaven! As Paul put it...we were forced to relax, watch any movie we wanted and we were served food and beer....what could be better??!
The flight was just under eight hours and we landed in Amsterdam at 7:10 in the morning, Amsterdam time. It was very weird...we left when it was light outside...it got completely dark...and then we flew into the sunrise...but it was only 2am Toronto time! We were even served breakfast before we got off the plane....so bizarre. Paul and I both feel like we have lost a day.
The last flight from Amsterdam to Nuremberg was uneventful. It was a much smaller plane and a very short flight. When we arrived at the airport we got our bags and then a taxi drove us to our hotel.
Our room is very small, but very clean and has everything we need. The first thing we did was walk to the local grocery store to pick up a few supplies. On the way we found the LARGEST beer/liquor store I have ever seen! Although everything else here is very, very expensive - beer is not. Paul's face lit up! We brought a few samples back to our hotel...
We had a quick nap (we hadn't slept in over 24 hours) and we are now relaxing in our hotel room. I don't know if we will make it out tonight for a walk around town...we may just try and recover from how jet lagged we feel.
Tomorrow we will update with pictures from around Erlangen.
Thanks for following along...love to you all!

Isn't international travel the best????? I personally love flying...and now that it's common to have your personal movie screen, how great is that? Good prep for your China flight!
Glad you are safe and sound...enjoy, and I can't wait to see some pics (watch our blog tomorrow for Bryanna's first overnight camp)!
Love Lianne
beer and chocolate --- that's really all you need...right?
Hope you run into some warmer weather -- still waiting for it here.
