School's Out For Summer!!

The end of the school year came very quickly for me...most likely because I missed two weeks of school in June due to catching pneumonia from my students! Normally I am able to put things away in my classroom and get things done so that I am ready for the end of the year, but not this year!

On top of that, I got a new job!! While at home sick I got an email from a principal at a school right down the road from our house and she wanted me to interview for the position. I went for the interview and then found out that evening that I had had a successful interview and that I could have the position if I wanted it....so I took it!

Paul and I are very excited at the idea that I am going to be working so close to home. It will make it so much easier once we are home with our little one. The hours are fantastic as well. I start at 8:00 and finish at 2:30! Part of my position will entail teaching a Grade 5 homeroom (Literacy, Social Studies, and Core French), and the other half of my position will be as the ESL teacher.

Although I know that this move is the best thing for my family, leaving my school in Keswick, the staff, students, and parents was very hard. I love building relationships within the school and it was difficult to know that I wasn't going to be there next year.

So....not only did I not get the 'normal' things done at the end of the school year, I also didn't have any time to pack my room. This past week some of my amazing friends came to my rescue and went to school with me to help me pack and then take my things to my new school. We spent three full days getting this done and I couldn't have done it without their help. Now, it officially feels like summer for me....woohoo!
