Rothenburg ob der Tauber - start at the bottom of the page for the day

One of the neatest things that we saw in Rothenburg was the dungeon, torture room and cells. They haven't really been altered and it was amazing too see!

The stairs heading down to the dungeon. The stairs have been redone and they are very, very small and narrow. Actually, all of the doorways are very short!!

The hallway leading from the stairs to the dungeon.

The torture room. See the window at the end of the room? That was added during the second World War. They used this room as a bomb shelter and the window was installed as a method of escape.

Torture tools - heated in the fire and used to pinch the prisoner and burn them.

Paul inside on of the cells - lock him in!!

A cell - where one of Rothenburg's most famous mayor died while imprisoned.

The view of the town outside the walls.

Paul at the top of one of the look-out towers. What a climb!!

See Paul up there?! He said the wooden floor was creaky and a little intimidating...very high!!
