Paul and I have been thinking about having my Dad move in with us, but it just wouldn't be possible to put a basement apartment in our townhouse. Sooooo...we started looking at new houses now (instead of five years from now), because of the housing market being at an all-time low.....and we found our dream home!
We have purchased a 2600 square foot detached home in the same Mattamy build where we currently live. The floor plan is absolutely amazing....everything Paul and I could ever want in a home. We also got a property that backs onto forest, not another house....so peaceful.
This is a picture of our main floor...although we are upgrading our kitchen, it is a pretty good idea of what it will look like. I tried downloading our top floor selection, but I can't get it to work..
All in all, we are starting to get excited....although we both woke up this morning feeling like we might be sick to our stomachs! The house will be ready in January 2010....just four months before we travel to China.The next year is going to be amazing....travel to Germany for three weeks this summer, receive the referral for our child...sell, pack and move houses....and then travel to China to finalize the adoption.
Life is good....and we are very blessed!

what an adventure for you both -- it's wonderful to have someone to do these exciting things with - to push you a bit -- and support you a lot.
Crazy woman...I'm just saying! You just finished decorating your NEW HOUSE and IT looks amazing!
However, bigger is nice and forest is nicer!

I know! I totally understand! Paul and I weren't really looking for a bigger house...we love the one we are in now. We just wanted to take advantage of the market and of my Dad living in a basement apartment with it's own entrance. This floor plan allows for that and we got an amazing deal with Mattamy. So....we just moved our plans ahead a few years! :)
