We had quite a few people generously donate their time to help us get some things done around the house. My Aunt and Uncle drove down from Ottawa for the week, my Dad and Paul booked vacation and I was ready and willing to spend my break painting!
The walls were prepped, the supplies were ready and we started painting early Saturday morning. We worked from about 8am to 4pm every day. We had the entire house (minus two bedrooms) painted...yes, with two coats....within two and a half days! We could not believe it! We didn't stop working, however....we kept going on other projects around the house.
We were able to get a drawer system built in my closet. I had to....anyone who has helped us move knows how many clothes Paul has and how little drawer space I am allowed! Hehe! (sorry Paul). I also refinished more of my furniture pieces. The furniture used to belong to my Dad and some of his siblings...it was then passed on to us. I have always wanted to change the ugly dark orange/red colour of the furniture....and now I have! After sanding the first pieces last July, we realized that the furniture was pure Maple....absolutely gorgeous wood! I have enough furniture pieces for our bedroom...and now for my own child (or even two, one day). We got the bed and bedside tables completed this week. I have only a bookshelf and a desk remaining to finish.
It was amazing to have so much help this past week....it would have taken Paul and I forever to do that on our own! My family has offered to come back this summer and help us finish the basement....they must be crazy! :)

WOW -- busy times but well worth it -- great results -- I like the shot of the cat checking out the new digs.
The furniture is the best deal of all --- love the b/w shots from the wedding --
nice touches all around.
